Lymphedema

HOME / LYMPHEDEMA

Lymphedema is a chronic condition caused by a buildup of protein-rich lymphatic fluid, leading to persistent swelling—most often in the arms, legs, or trunk. It can result from surgery, radiation, trauma, infection, vascular conditions like CVI, or develop without a clear cause. Some people are born with it (primary lymphedema), while others develop it later in life (secondary).

Common symptoms include swelling, heaviness, tightness, aching, and changes in skin texture or mobility. If left unmanaged, lymphedema can worsen over time and increase the risk of infection. Unfortunately, it’s often underdiagnosed or poorly explained, leaving many without answers or support.

We provide expert, evidence-informed care for lymphedema—especially in cases complicated by lipedema or chronic venous insufficiency. During your consultation, we’ll review your medical history, assess swelling patterns, tissue quality, and symptom progression, and help determine the most appropriate next steps. We may also recommend a SOZO Bioimpedance Scan to track lymphatic load and fluid changes over time.

We have several different treatment programs available, depending on the significance of your swelling, past experience of lymphatic therapy, and current needs and goals. In each of them, we offer the following:

Education in Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) & Self-Management Tools

We teach effective self-lymphatic techniques and daily routines to promote fluid movement at home. If hands-on care is needed, we’ll help you connect with trusted providers in your area.

Pneumatic Compression & Garment Support

We help you access the right compression tools — from custom garments to pneumatic compression pumps — and provide support with

insurance paperwork, brand coordination, and referrals for measurement fittings.

Movement-Based Strategies for Fluid Management & Mobility

Gentle, lymph-safe movement routines help improve circulation, reduce stiffness, and rebuild functional strength — especially if swelling has

limited your mobility. Many patients begin to feel more stable, energized, and at ease in their daily activities.

Lifestyle & Nutrition Education

Learn sustainable strategies to support lymphatic health, including high-protein nutrition to aid fluid balance and tissue repair, anti-inflammatory

meal planning, skin care routines, and symptom tracking. All guidance is weight-neutral, practical, and tailored to your lifestyle.

Feel Lighter. Move Freer. Dress How You Want.

Whether it’s slipping into your favorite shoes, wearing rings without discomfort, or finally enjoying clothes that fit comfortably again — we’re here to help you get there. Our focus is on helping you feel like yourself again, with a plan that puts you back in control.
